The poem
Go to sleep little one.
Fly aloft when the day is done.
Do not fear, rosen child
Dream of all days meak and mild.
What you'll be when you wake...
is a path we both shall take...
Now the two lines I'm looking at are
"Do not fear, rosen child" and "What you'll be when you wake..."
Now from the looks of things it seems the mew is just waking-up and there are visible tears in her eyes so what I think is going on here is: the mew was a child who became a mew in his or her sleep
